Our Story

Founded by John Burks in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Cat’s Paw Winery began as a labor of love. After years of crafting wine for friends and family, John was persuaded to share his creations with the public — and in 2016, Cat’s Paw Winery officially opened its doors. His commitment to producing small-batch, handcrafted wines quickly earned the winery recognition, including the #1 ranking in South Carolina by Choice Wineries. In 2025, Cat’s Paw Winery entered an exciting new chapter when it was acquired by the Brinson Family under Brinson Spirits and relocated to 210 E Cherokee Street in Blacksburg, South Carolina — right in the heart of Cherokee County. This move marks a new era of growth and creativity while keeping the winery’s small-batch spirit alive. The Brinson Family’s vision is to preserve the legacy that John built while introducing new offerings that celebrate Southern craftsmanship, hospitality, and innovation in winemaking.

​At Cat's Paw Winery, we take pride in creating wines that are smooth and delicious, palatable, and easy to drink. Made with all natural well water and real fruit juices, you'll notice the difference immediately between our wines and store bought brands. Mass produced wines can contain over 20 chemicals, preservatives, added sugars. Cat's Paw wines contain only two additives, no additional tannins, and no additional sulfites. You can enjoy any of our varieties without the worry of wine headache in the morning.
